SPARC Book Club - "Happier Hour"
SPARC Book Club - Happier Hour: How to Beat Distraction, Expand Your Time, and Focus on What Matters Most by Cassie Holmes
SPARC members are invited to "SPARC" new ideas and new thinking through our Book Club, a space to explore topics that help us grow individually and collectively as leaders, visionaries, and entrepreneurs. This session's discussion is facilitated by Karen McCann McClelland, Executive Director of Auxiliary Programs at Sidwell Friends School and SPARC Senior Advisor, and Kristi Jacobi, Director of Operations / Auxiliary Programs at St. Mark's School.
SPARC's own Bob Rojee and Karen had the opportunity to hear Cassie Holmes speak at the NAIS Conference this past February, and her message stayed with them. Holmes is a professor at UCLA Anderson School of Management whose research explores the connection between how we spend our time and how fulfilled we feel. Her findings are practical, grounded, and directly relevant to the kind of work we do.
In this Book Club session, we'll dig into the key ideas from Happier Hour and reflect on what they mean for our roles in summer and auxiliary programs. Holmes makes a compelling case that happiness isn't about having more time. It's about being intentional with the time we already have. That means prioritizing meaningful connections, designing schedules around what matters most, and learning to be more present in the day-to-day.
It's a timely conversation for auxiliary leaders, and an especially good one to have before summer begins. Please join us.
