ROUNDTABLE - Tutoring in Auxiliary Programs
This roundtable discussion will explore how schools are managing after-school tutoring, lessons, and similar programs amid growing questions about liability, insurance coverage, and nonprofit compliance. Participants will examine the implications of allowing teachers or outside providers to offer private tutoring on campus, and the advantages of incorporating these services under Auxiliary Programs to ensure proper oversight, insurance protection, and institutional alignment. Attendees will share experiences from schools that restrict campus use to 501(c)(3) entities, those that have transitioned to school-managed tutoring models, and others still navigating “wild west” scenarios where faculty operate independently. The session aims to surface best practices, policy templates, and operational strategies for building compliant, sustainable, and mission-aligned tutoring programs.
