ROUNDTABLE - Inclusive Practices for Neurodivergent Campers
As more neurodivergent campers join our programs, camps are striving to create environments that are supportive, inclusive, and responsive to a wide range of needs. Many of us, however, are navigating complex challenges: limited staffing resources, unclear policies, lack of formal training, and the balance between inclusivity and program capacity.
This roundtable will provide auxiliary leaders with a space to share experiences, strategies, and questions around supporting neurodivergent campers. Topics will include:
- How camps approach 1:1 support and the use of external aides
- Staff training in working with neurodivergent children
- Registration language and policies that set clear but supportive expectations
- Practical approaches for building inclusive practices within limited resources
Whether your programs have established structures or are just beginning to explore this area, this discussion is an opportunity to learn from peers, exchange resources, and reflect on how our programs can grow thoughtfully and responsibly.
This discussion is open to SPARC members and non-members.
